Living room designed by Rachel Jackson Design with a pool view and layered table styling

The reason some rooms feel calm and others don't

Rachel Jackson designs homes and spaces around how people actually experience them: light, sound, texture, and where the furniture sits. She works with families on their own homes, and with hotels, conferences, and design firms on theirs.

Two ways to work with Rachel

For organizations

Speaking, team training, and design consulting for hotels, conferences, design firms, and CEU programs. Your audience leaves with changes they can make, and your space works for more of the people in it.

Bring Rachel to your organization

For your own home

Full Service Design, where Rachel and her team handle the whole project from the plan through the final styling. Austin local or virtual.

Currently booking for winter 2026.

Speaking & organizational consulting

Bring the sensory layer to your team, your conference, or your property

Hospitality design, international design festivals, and clinical ADHD conferences are all arriving at the same question right now, from very different directions: how does a space actually affect the people inside it? Rachel has been working on that question for over twenty years. Sessions run as keynotes, fireside chats, hands-on workshops, IDCEC-certified continuing education, and internal training.

What a session usually looks like

Rachel builds the session around your space and your audience rather than running a stock deck. In Las Vegas that meant hotel lighting and acoustics for a hospitality audience. In London it's a workshop that walks a room through auditing glare, echo, and visual clutter in spaces they already manage. In Baltimore it's a sensory home audit for people living with ADHD. Whatever the format, people leave with specific changes they can make.

She has taught this approach to designers in twenty-two countries and trained through the Institute for Challenging Disorganization.

From the people who live there

“Three small changes made mornings so much easier.”

Design client

“I didn't realize how much our lighting was affecting sleep.”

Design client

“Finally, a space where I can actually focus.”

Design client

“There are a lot of things that say ‘sensory friendly’ and usually lend towards hypersensitivity but I am blown away that you are already addressing design differences for those who desire more sensory input too. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

About Rachel

She noticed the sensory layer before the industry had a name for it

Partly because she has ADHD and had been designing around her own experience for years before it became a specialty. Rachel holds IDCEC certification and trained through the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, and she's taught this approach to designers in twenty-two countries.

Rachel Jackson Design is a neuroinclusive interior design studio based in Austin, Texas, working with families on their homes and with organizations on the spaces their people spend time in.
